VERDANT
Verdant is inspired by the nuances of the color green. Green is a dominant color in our surroundings and in nature -yet for most, we only see pops of the color in our wardrobe.
My collection represents the calming and refreshing effect that the color green has on our minds and moods. The color lends inspiration to my varying fabric choices and organic silhouettes, in the pursuit of representing perhaps the best connotations of the color green: newness and creativity.
This collection features hand-sewn embroidery using beads and pearls. I also developed my own digitally printed cotton sateen fabrics by printing graphics I designed in Adobe Illustrator using a Mutoh 1938TX & RIPMaster fabric printer provided by the Wilson College of Textiles. I had to consider the cut and proportion of each pattern piece to adjust each print to achieve the best scale and overall garment outcome. FABRICATIONS
The first step to creating my fabrics was to design the print graphic. I looked to my mood board and compiled a palette of colors and took inspiration from the organic shapes. I created these files in Adobe Illustrator and matched the file specifications to the digital printer I planned to use. The image below this text is an example of what my files looked like.
